We are two days removed before the opening of Interior 2008 @ Kortrijk, Belgium. Friday 17 october starts the 21st international biennale for creative interior design.
Ever since the tumultuous year 1968, when the first Biennale of ‘Interieur’ took place, Interieur has always been able to count on the presence of internationals guests of honour. The biennial selection has grown over the years with an impressive list with names, such as Philippe Starck, Rolf Fehlbaum, Konstantin Grcic en Alfredo Häberli in 2004. Guest of honour this year is Jaime Hayon, he is the youngest and first ever Spanish guest of honour.
A short biography of Jaime Hayon: Jaime Hayon is a Spanish artist and designer and was born in Madrid in 1974. He trained as an industrial designer in Madrid and later in Paris. In 1997 he started working as a reseacher in the Benetton Group’s communication research center in Treviso, Italy. A year later he was appointed to head of the design department, where he oversaw the development of interiors for shops, exhibitions and restaurants as well as the books, magazines and logo designs.
In 2004 Hayon’s started his own individual career and kept himself busy with a spectrum of eclectric projects, from toys, to furniture and interior design as well as artistic installations. His style is a very unique style that borders between the world of art and design.
